Riva del Garda

Riva del Garda with its Venetian-style buildings, its octagonal Baroque-style church and its Scaligeran "Rocca", touched by the lapping waves, was an international tourist attraction ever since the late 8th century.

Lake Garda closes in and the mountains open up offering a colourfully romantic landscape dominated by the luxuriant green Mediterranean vegetation and the many shades of sky and lake blue.

From the harbour and square hosting the "Apponale" Tower the Medieval Hamlet can still be easily detected and appreciated with its buildings and arcades, the doorways and the ruins of the walls that once contained the small town of Riva. Nearby, sitting on the lakeside, you can admire the "Rocca" which was built in 1124 and now hosts the Civic Museum. The Venetian fort of the Renaissance "Il Bastione" overlooks the "Ponale" hydroelectric power station that lies at the foot of Mt. Rocchetta and was built by the architect Giancarlo Maroni and opened up by D'Annunzio.
